He is Altogether Lovely (Part 2)

I've had several requests for a copy of the conclusion to yesterday's sermon on "The Supremacy of Jesus Christ Over Creation" from Colossians 1:15-17.

There are no means to measure the depth of his limitless love.
There are no barriers that can hinder Him from pouring out his boundless blessings upon his children.

He is the loftiest idea in all of literature. He is the highest point in all of philosophy.
He is the fundamental doctrine of true theology.

He supplies strength for the weak.
He is a refuge for the tempted and the tried.
He heals the sick. He cleanses the lepers. He forgives sinners.
He discharges debtors. He delivers the captives.
He defends the defenseless. He regards the lowliest and he crowns us with steadfast love and mercy.

His goodness is limitless. His mercy is everlasting.
His love never changes. His word is enough. His grace is sufficient. His reign is righteous. His yoke is easy and His burden is light.

The heavens of heavens cannot contain Him, let alone a man explain Him. You can’t get Him out of your mind. You can’t get Him out of your head.
You can’t outlive Him and you can’t live without Him.
Pharisees couldn’t stand Him, Pilate couldn’t find any fault in Him. Death couldn’t handle Him and the grave couldn’t hold Him.
He always has been and He always will be.
He is preeminent over all of creation and his supremacy is the delight, the joy, the rapture, and ecstasy His people for he is altogether lovely to us.

Adapted from a prayer of Dr. S.M. Lockridge in 1976.
